OUR RESPONSIBILITY TO BE USED BY GOD

By: Virginia Harris-Hutzel

In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. (Matthew 5:16 NIV)

You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives (Genesis 50:20 NIV)

During 2019, I had the opportunity to listen to a sermon titled “The Responsibility After Restoration”. The sermon came from a passage in Mark 5, when Jesus cast the legion of demons out of a possessed man. This was a prime example of God’s miracle of restoration. In that sermon I also heard a quote that I am reminded of whenever I share my own testimony:

“Jesus will encounter you right where you live and expose the enemy in your life and evict the spirit of evil in your life and allow you to experience deliverance and restoration. God is good to you so you can be good to someone else.” (Dr. Timothy Mark Harris)

Many times we thank God when He fully restores back to life everything the enemy tried to destroy, but we stop there, or while sharing our testimony with others, our narrative can sometimes give focus to WHAT we were delivered from and not WHO delivered us. Our responsibility is to let our testimony of deliverance and restoration be used for witness of the power of God in our lives to someone who needs it. In that responsibility, we must allow ourselves to be completely used by God, giving Him all of the glory.

From our pain in this life, God’s power will show itself strong every time through us; it’s essential when God uses us to share our testimony that our focus stays on Who brought us through. Let the Lord use you and your life as a testimony of His power and love for us to minister to others searching for answers.
