TRUSTING GOD'S WORD

That through two immutable things, in which (it is) impossible for God to lie, a strong comfort we may have who flee for refuge to lay hold on the hope set before (us)

Hebrews 6:18 YLT

In September if 2004, Oprah Winfrey had a show where she gave everyone in her audience a new car. Her audience that day had been handpicked with people in desperate need of transportation. Some couldn't get their children back and forth to doctor’s appointments, some couldn't get a job because they didn't have a car to get there, etc. We all remember the famous words, "You get a car! You get a car! You get a car!"

Years later, as I was studying for a class I was teaching, the Lord brought this to my remembrance. When she said those words, everyone was weeping, screaming, hugging strangers, celebrating, and dancing. Though they had no car in their possession yet, they were overwhelmed with gratitude and happiness based on the word of a woman many had never even spoken to. Nevertheless, they believed her words were true.

As Christians we have got to get to the place of celebration before we see a reason to celebrate. Celebrate and receive just because our God, Who cannot lie, has promised something. If God has said it, that settles it.

Just take Him at his Word.
