Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.

1 Corinthians 13:7 NLT

This year on October 14th, my wife and I will be married for 14 years. I have been with my wife for longer than I have lived without her. It’s fair to say that I know her. I know what bothers her, and I know the simple things that give her joy. It’s crazy to think that I know when she will be upset about something even before I do it. Even though we know each other well, that doesn’t mean I always treat her well. My own desires contend with what she wants. In the heat of that battle, it sometimes feels easier to quit. When both of our “wants” are strong, isn’t it easier to walk away? Of course, it’s easier, but love is never easy. Love won’t let go even if you try. True love keeps fighting when you want to give up. You might as well stop giving up on the relationship God put together. Giving up can’t be an option. Quitting can’t be “plan B.”

If your relationship is in danger today, remember that love never loses faith. Take a deep breath and get back to loving each other the way Christ loves the Church.
