SELF AWARE VS. SELF WAR

By: Moriah Logsdon

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.

Philippians 4:8 ESV

Be kind to YOU! We tend to implant destructive thoughts about ourselves before anyone else has the chance to. The closest mouth to your ear is your own —it’s also the most unfiltered. Jeremiah 29:11 says, “‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the LORD, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’”

If you make yourself aware of what thoughts to avoid, you can easily shut down the voice of the enemy. The enemy doesn’t want you to grow, he doesn’t even want you where you currently are! He desires no hope, no future plans for you. His desire is death. Now in the physical, that can be death to your career, friendships, family, and most of all death to your relationship with God. BUT GOD!! He desires to give you hope and a future.

Three mental attacks to avoid falling into:
  1. Insecurity
  1. Discomfort
  1. Criticism

Meditate on this scripture the next time you feel yourself going into “self war”!
