MERCY

By: Tim & Cheri Henderson

Have mercy upon me, O God, according to Your loving kindness; according to the multitude of Your tender mercies, blot out my transgressions.

Psalm 51:1 NKJV

This was written by David after he was confronted about his sin of adultery with Bathsheba and the murder of her husband, Uriah. He pours out his heart and completely depends on the mercy of God. Later in the Psalm, he says, "The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, a broken and a contrite heart—these, O God, You will not despise" (Psalm 51:17 NKJV).

Have you done something in your past, or even recently, that you believe is so horrific, so decadent, that you can't even go to God? Do you feel He would be completely repulsed by your presence? Have you considered just running away from your Christian life and your brothers and sisters in Christ, and chucking it all? I say to you that if you feel like running, run to God instead, and fall on His mercy! No sin is too great for God to forgive. God loves you more than you know!
