A DOOR
By: Whitney Northern
Open my eyes to see the wonderful truths in your instructions. I am only a foreigner in the land. Don’t hide your commands from me.
Psalm 119:18-19 NLT
The Amplified Bible phrases Psalm 119:18 this way; “Open my eyes [to spiritual truth] so that I may behold wonderful things from Your law.”
I love stories, and when I say I love them, I mean I LOVE them. From The Chronicles of Narnia to Lord of the Rings, I enjoy watching, reading, and even creating my own adventures. Especially when I know a writer has a love for Christ, I like to watch and read to see if there are any hints to that love within their writing. I like to read between the lines in literature and see a message that may not be 100 percent clear, but I know it is there. This morning, I looked at my Bible and saw a door. Immediately I thought of the wardrobe in The Chronicles of Narnia. Like the wardrobe, I saw the Bible as a hidden door to a realm full of wonder; hidden only in the sense that if you’re not looking, you won’t see it.
As I was doing a study on Ezekiel, I learned of the significance of Ezekiel being a priest and a prophet. In that time, it was two very separate jobs, but God chose him to be a TRUE communicator between God and His people; like Jesus. *
However, because of Jesus, we don’t need that extra person. We can get revelations all on our own from God by opening “that door” (the Word of God) and walking through it.
Abba, thank You! I’m so grateful that the knowledge and wisdom You have for us never stops. I’m so grateful that You want to communicate with us. You want to teach us more than we can even comprehend. Help us to remember it all starts at Your word. Remind us of the door that we always have access to! Bring understanding. Bring scripture into our remembrance when we need it. We give You all the praise and glory and honor and thanks. You are our beautiful Father and we love You. Amen.
