DON'T JUST READ IT!

For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.
Hebrews 4:12 NIV
Today I want to share something I read in the Bible study Trustworthy by Lysa Terkeurst:
“Someone posed a poignant question to me the other day. Do I read God’s Word to prove the thoughts I bring to the text? Or do I let the text shape my thoughts I will then apply to my life?
God’s Word must lead my thoughts, not the other way around.
My response to His Word is very telling of how I view His Word. If it’s an ancient book with some good principles, I will read it and take from it what I want. But if I truly believe the Bible is the living Word of the one true and holy God, I don’t just read it; I let it read me. It will breathe fresh life into me, rearrange my wrong thinking, redirect my wayward heart tendencies, and cause me to become more and more humble with each interaction. It’s not just a book. The Bible is God’s Word speaking to us in present tense.”
Allow God’s word to read you and breathe life into you today!
