CULTIVATE THANKSGIVING

By: Dina Boitnott

Thank [God] in everything [no matter what the circumstances may be, be thankful and give thanks], for this is the will of God for you [who are] in Christ Jesus [the Revealer and Mediator of that will].

I Thessalonians 5:18 AMP

Negativity is all around us —it would be hard to go through a day without experiencing the negative. If our focus stays there, it will turn into “unthankfulness” or ungratefulness. We have to look beyond our circumstances and allow ourselves to look at the positive, what we have been blessed with. Thankfulness will bring us up out of despair onto  higher ground, where joy and expectation of good things reside.

I once heard Keith Moore, the pastor of Faith Life Church in Branson, Missouri, speak of a conversation he had with the Lord. He said the Lord asked him if he would like to know how to better receive from Him. Of course, he said yes. The Lord said, "Cultivate a lifestyle of thanksgiving."

All these years later those words still ring in my spirit. Cultivate—it's something we have to work at or practice on purpose. Today make a change in your heart to cultivate a lifestyle of thanksgiving. Your days will start looking up!
