THE FAST BEGINS
By: Pastor Matt Morgan
You will not have to fight this battle. Take up your positions; stand firm and see the deliverance the Lord will give you, Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Go out to face them tomorrow, and the Lord will be with you.
2 Chronicles 20:17 NIV
As we come out of the starting blocks of this new year we follow Jehoshaphat's example. Three enemy nations threaten the future of Judah (a.k.a. Praise). Your enemy has always tried to rob you of praise. Jehoshaphat faces uncertainty, anxiety, and scrutiny, but he privately sets himself to know the Lord. His prayer life begins privately but becomes public. With humility, he announces, “We are helpless but our eyes are upon you.”
He recognizes God as his only hope, his only security, his only salvation. He set himself, positioned himself, to discover the purpose, the power, and the presence of Almighty God. In the kingdom of God winning is not optional, it is essential.
Trial gives equal opportunity for all. Conflict only requires a pulse, but conquest requires a plan.
struggle develops strength; adversity has always been, and will always be a promoter. So don't shy away from the challenge. Rather, step up to the challenge and face your adversity knowing that God is fighting for you.
