UNDER PRESSURE
By: Pastor Matt Morgan
No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.
1 Corinthians 10:13 NIV
In April 1963, the USS Thresher, a nuclear submarine, was lost during deep dive testing. In this tragic disaster 129 crew members lost their lives. “Crush depth” becomes a reality when the pressure from the outside on a vessel becomes stronger than the resistance on the inside of that vessel. There is only so much pressure a submarine can withstand.
The same is true for us; there is only so much pressure that we can handle. What can we do? Only one thing: trust in God. The scripture we read above said, “God is faithful.” There are seasons when we tend to forget this, but we must remember that God is faithful. Unlike ourselves, God is always faithful. That’s why 2 Timothy 2:13 says, “When we are faithless, yet He abides faithful.”
When we trust God, we build up resistance to the outside pressure. The voice on the inside of us becomes stronger than the voices on the outside. Trusting God produces faith that honors God. Honor God today by trusting in Him.
