BIRDS OF A FEATHER

By: Moriah Logsdon

A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.

Proverbs 18:24 ESV

Last week I had a particularly rough week. I was sent unexpected flowers & notes from multiple friends. I was so overwhelmed with love and gratitude for God for  sending these wonderful people in my life. I thought back to a time that I had truly prayed for months for selfless friendships like this.

For those that are feeling alone: We were not meant to be alone! We all need OUR people! If you have not found your “people,” make a point every day to pray God sends the right people in your path. He has already set specific people for different seasons in your life. No one is meant to do life alone.

One of God’s first concerns for us was being alone. God established that “it’s not good for Adam to be alone...” (Genesis 2:18) His solution? God continued, “... I’ll make him a helper, a companion.” He brought Eve to Adam and they “became one flesh.” We are designed to be in community with God and with one another. That is why loneliness hits us the way it does. The most unlikely friendships for me have been the most life-changing ones.

Make a point to check on your friends today! If you haven’t already found an accountability partner, find one.
