YOU SAY

By: Toni Barnes

“For I know the thoughts and plans that I have for you” says the Lord, “thoughts and plans for welfare and peace and not for evil to give you a hope in your final outcome.”

Jeremiah 29:11 AMPC

I remember hearing this song the first time driving in my car. My mind was so full of confusion, not knowing what direction to take, not knowing any answers to the questions that I had. I remember telling the Lord, “I can’t do this anymore!”

I was trying to trust God when it was scary and hard, and my flesh was weak. I felt so in adequate. I heard these words:

YOU SAY I AM LOVED WHEN I CAN’T FEEL A THING. YOU SAY I AM STRONG WHEN I THINK I AM WEAK. … AND I BELIEVE.*

All I could do was cry and thank the Lord for loving me and for letting me know what His thoughts were toward me. In that moment, I felt a “letting go.” I realized I DID believe, and I knew right then—Yes, I can do this!
