WISDOM

How blessed is the man who finds wisdom and the man who gains understanding? For her profit is better than the profit of silver and her gain better than fine gold. She is more precious than jewels; And nothing you desire compares with her. Long life is in her right hand; In her left hand are riches and honor. Her ways are pleasant ways. And all her paths are peace. She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her, and happy are all who hold her fast.
Proverbs 3:13-18 NASB
I find it so interesting how the Bible refers to wisdom as “her.” I love the way the scripture takes that simple word wisdom and instantly transforms it into a being. It brings it to life—like she has breath and lives. If you read all through Proverbs you will find it consistently talks about her. It makes you want to meet “her,” which I think is exactly the point.
Wisdom is what we should consistently seek. We should chase after her. Just like this scripture says there is nothing we can desire that can compare to her. I encourage you to not stop with these few verses I’ve put in this devotion about her. Continue to read Proverbs, and it will keep introducing you to wisdom’s truths and understandings. I truly believe wisdom reveals more about Jesus’ heart to us.
Jesus, thank you for wisdom! Thank you for the way you bring life through Your Word. Please continue to give me revelation as I read through Proverbs. Help me to understand and fall in love with wisdom. I love you. Amen.
