SECURELY

By: Whitney Huff

But he who listens to me shall live securely and will be at ease from the dread of evil.

Proverbs 1:33 NASB

Securely: free from or not exposed to danger or harm; safe; dependable; firm; not liable to fail, yield, become displaced.

Wow! What an awesome promise! I love the way Proverbs lays out simple truths. “But he who listens to me shall live securely.” Sometimes, though listening can be hard to do, especially when we are used to doing all the talking. The Lord speaks in a still small voice, which to me translates to whispering. And in my experience to hear someone whisper, one must be quiet.

I know for myself it is hard for me to even quiet my mind enough to hear my own self think, let alone someone else talk. So I pray this over You and myself:

Jesus, today please help us to hear You. Help us to quiet our thoughts, our mouths, and our lives in order to hear You! We trust your promise that if we just listen, we will live securely in You! We want to live free from and not exposed to danger. Jesus teach us to listen. Amen.

I want to encourage you to set some time apart today to just sit and listen. To be quiet in this loud world and hear His still small voice. Remember that in that Voice there is a life for you full of security!
