INSIDE OUT

Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ.

I Corinthians 11:1 NIV

Being a leader in any capacity has such responsibility. If you are a parent, own a business, have siblings, or are in any position where someone looks up to you, it can carry some heavy weight. I believe one of the best ways to lead is by example. Often, because of this belief, I can get caught up in the thought of “How do I look (present myself) to others?”

Jesus warns us in Matthew 26:23 not to be like the Pharisee who cleans the outside of the cup; rather, to first clean the inside so the outside may be clean also. I have missed the mark on this on several occasions because I wonder what I may LOOK like to my peers, family, and church members if I don’t measure up to what I think are their expectations. So, I do what doers do, I just keep doing, working, staying busy, and looking the part, yet the inside of my cup (me) feels empty.

Be the example of grace, not perfection. Our family and friends already know our imperfections, but how honoring it is to God when we lead by His grace, His mercies, and His love. I challenge you today to allow the Lord to cleanse your cup from any residue of your yesterdays so you can be the leader He has called you to be TODAY!
