RULER OF MY OWN EMOTIONS

By: Dina Boitnott

Then the Lord said to Cain, “Why are you angry? And why has your countenance fallen? If you do well, will not your countenance be lifted up? And if you do not do well, sin is crouching at the door; and its desire is for you, but you must master it.”

Genesis 4:6-7 NASB

I know personally what it feels like to be dominated by anger. Most of my life was lived knowing that at any moment a switch could be flipped and some crazy violent woman that I no longer recognize would come out. I thought it was part of who I was, part of my family history, never to be free.

God had to teach me that I was the one to whom He had given authority. He had made a way for me to have peace in my life; the choice was in my hands. I was to start using my authority and rule my emotions or stay in bondage to them and allow them to ruin my life.

God told Cain to master his anger—had he chosen to, he could have. With God's help I did and so can you. Your emotions are under your God-given authority—talk to them. Let the peace of God flow in and through you. A peaceful life awaits you.
