HOPE
By: Whitney Huff
In the same way God, desiring even more to show to the heirs of the promise the unchangeableness of His purpose, interposed with an oath, so that by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have taken refuge would have strong encouragement to take hold of the hope set before us. This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, a hope both sure and steadfast and one which enters within the veil, where Jesus has entered as a forerunner for us, having become a high priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek.
Hebrews 6:17-20 NASB
Hope: a word easily overlooked, but so full of life. I often wonder how I made it before Jesus became my life. I can remember the days I woke up with no purpose and no hope in the future. It’s an awful feeling.
I love the way this set of scriptures talks about hope though. How it says to take hold of it, and how it’s an anchor for our souls. When I looked up the word hope the definition was powerful. Hope: a desire accompanied by expectation of or belief in fulfillment.
Hope is the expectation and desire of fulfillment. The fulfillment of what though? Life. Life everlasting with our loving Father. The One who has already gone to prepare a place for us. As you make your way through today, take joy in your hope. Be thankful that you have a reason to hope again. And always remember Who has given you that hope back.
