VETO POWER

By: Pastor Matt Morgan

Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.

Proverbs 19:21 ESV

Pastor Cleddie Keith says, “Give God veto power!” Veto power is the right to cancel or postpone a decision. There must be submission. This is more than reliance; this is compliance—putting God’s will above my own. We must submit to a higher power.

Submission is the act of yielding to a superior force. For God’s Kingdom to come, our kingdom must go. We must continually resign to our will and submit to his. Submission is humble obedience. The word submission comes from sub which means “under" and mittere which means “let go.”

A.W. Tozer said, “The reason why many are still troubled, still seeking, still making little forward progress is because they haven't yet come to the end of themselves. We're still trying to give orders, and interfering with God's work within us.”

Trusting in God is a lifelong process. God has promised to always walk beside us. Even when we walk blindly, God’s eyes are wide open. Your problems have never caught God off guard! We rely on facts to make decisions, but God has divine intelligence. In most situations, we are out of context with the greater reality. We often try to figure out how this will affect us today, but God sees how and who it will affect for eternity.

God is more than for you, God is with you. God knows what you need and when you need it. Our response to lifes difficulties must always be to trust in God.

Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. (Proverbs 3:5-6 NIV)
