HE KNOWS YOUR NAME

By: Jill Collins

Fear not, for I have redeemed you (ransomed you by paying a price instead of leaving you captives); I have called you by your name; you are Mine.

Isaiah 43:1b AMPC

Looking back through the Bible there are many examples of God calling out names. When Moses was on the mountain and saw the burning bush, God called out his name twice “Moses, Moses.” He saved the people from slavery. Samuel, who was asleep, heard his name being called. He went on to be a great prophet. And Peter, who denied Jesus, was called by name through the angel of the Lord to the ladies at the tomb. He said, “Go tell the disciples and PETER.”

Jesus says in John 10:3, “He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.” The sheep will only hear the shepherd’s voice; they will run from an unfamiliar voice. The enemy has names for us as well, but those names don’t line up with what God says we are.

God knows your name. Be encouraged today knowing the God of creation says, “You are mine.”
