COMMUNITY
By: Moriah Logsdon
And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
Hebrews 10:24–25 NIV
How many of us have been guilty of wanting the invitation, but not wanting to have to go to the party? Or if you're an introvert, maybe you like the thought of hanging out with people but when it comes down to it, you’d rather be on your couch binge watching Netflix or scrolling through your social media? We tend to settle for surface level interaction and activity-centered friendships rather than real, honest, open community.
LET’S CHANGE THAT!
I want to get out of my comfort zone and make an effort to be a part of our church family. Do you want to make a difference in someone’s life including your own? Maybe this could be a Small Group or a Bible study, or simply a lunch with someone after church service. You could start with something small! Meet the folks that sit on your same row at church. We all have social gatherings that we are part of through friends, work, and our family's commitments, but is that the same as Christian community, centered around the gospel for the purpose of lifting each other up in the faith?
Food for thought: What kind of community can you build or join at your church?
