SERVE YOUR WAY INTO HAPPINESS

By: Pastor Matt Morgan

Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing. (Psalm 100:2 KJV)

You know that the Lord will reward each one for whatever good they do, whether they are slave or free. (Ephesians 6:8 NIV)

Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established. (Proverbs 16:3 KJV)

There are two letters in the New Testament written by Jesus’ brothers, James and Jude. It is interesting that each introduces himself as a servant to Jesus rather than as a brother to Him. James opens his letter “James a servant of Christ Jesus” and Jude opens his letter with “a servant of Jesus Christ and the brother of James.”

Samuel was instructed by Eli the high priest to answer Gods call in like manner: “Speak for your servant listens!”

It appears that serving is the highest call. I have found that serving is more than helping others; it is helping yourself in the process. You feel better when you serve. You are more content when you serve. Serving opens channels of communication from God. Peace, clarity, and purpose are all results of serving the Lord.

Choose a service plan! Make a decision to serve. Be intentional and don’t procrastinate. Write it down if you must. Just do it! You can’t out give God—serving will be rewarded in eternity.
