LET IT GO

By: Pastor Bobbi Morgan

Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 3:13-14 NIV

Why is letting go so hard to do? Sometimes we hold on to things such as unhealthy relationships, fear, hurt, guilt, slander, regrets, failure, worry, past mistakes, etc. We are choosing to put our hope in the situation or the relationship instead of our trust in God. Letting go of these things is easier when we put our trust in God. Nothing we are hanging on to compares to what He has for us.

What God has in store for you is never in the past. Take down the rear-view mirror. Don’t look back. Realize that God has allowed and used people and situations in your life to build you up. Let go and open your arms and embrace what God has in store for you.

“Getting over a painful experience is much like crossing monkey bars. You have to let go at some point in order to move forward.” - C.S. Lewis
