CAUTION SPEED BUMP AHEAD!!
By: Moriah Logsdon
“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
Isaiah 41:10 NIV
We all have things that prevent us from reaching our destiny. We call these our speed bumps—the little things that get in our way of accomplishing things “our way.” These blockers are so small and insignificant, but when we give too much attention to the speed bumps, they can start looking like roadblocks. If you were uneducated on speed bumps, had a small car, and didn’t know you could cautiously drive over a speed bump, you would just stop your car. Or you may come to a stop because of not knowing what the detriment would be to your car by driving over one. You would make that tiny speed bump completely stop you from driving on your path due to your lack of knowledge.
We must look so silly to God when we completely go in a different direction because we have lack knowledge of the purpose of the speed bump He’s thrown in our way! God may want you to refocus your relationship toward your family or friends, or a coworker who’s in need. We may instead stop or detour rather than keeping to the unknown path of God. We won’t execute the GREATER plan God has for us if we allow these imaginary obstacles to deter us.
How many times do we get so aggravated by something slowing us down instead of thinking, “Why does He have me here? Why does He want me here still?” We have no idea how many times that coffee spill that made you late for work, that missed bus kept you out of an accident, or that failed test would have caused detriment to God’s plan. We could never know all of the small things that God is constantly moving in our lives, sometimes even while we are feeling dry or can’t even feel Him at all. He’s still there working behind the scenes, lining things up for you, clearing your path.
Stay on the path He’s given you! Keep pursuing His presence. Don’t let that speed bump stop you —drive around it and keep going.
