CONTENTMENT
By: Jill Collins
A calm and undisturbed mind and heart are like life and health of the body, but envy, jealousy, and wrath are like rottenness to the bones.
Proverbs 14:30 AMPC
In our society, it’s hard not to compare this or that. Our flesh (natural mind) is always wanting more—more clothes, more shoes, more friends, mo’ money, mo’ money, mo’ money (thank you, Wayans brothers). But in all seriousness, this thing called envy and jealousy is like a cancer to our bodies. When we are not content in our lives, we invite the enemy in, who makes us believe we are never enough.
I used to think if I didn’t speak in tongues like that person, then I wasn’t good enough, or I wasn’t as spiritual as them. I was never content with the gift He gave to me. I allowed the enemy to steal that from me, and doing so held me back from what God had for me. God says we are each unique, and He has a special plan for our lives. When we get in line with Him, we can have a calm and undisturbed heart that is full of peace.
